AppKeeper Privacy Policy
Effective date: 7 October 2026
AppKeeper - Backup & Restore ("AppKeeper", package com.app.keeper.backup.restore) backs up the apps on your Android device to a folder you choose and restores them later. AppKeeper does not upload your apps, backups or files anywhere. It sends a limited set of device and usage information for analytics, crash reporting and notifications, described below.
This policy applies to the AppKeeper Android app from version 1.0.9 and takes effect on 7 October 2026. AppKeeper is published by Realmbit, LLC, the controller of the data described here.
Information we collect
AppKeeper collects the following when you use it. None of it includes your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location or the contents of your backups.
| Data | Examples | When it is sent |
|---|---|---|
| App instance ID | A random identifier created on first launch, not linked to your Google account | Each app start |
| Device and app information | Device model, Android version, language, time zone, screen resolution, AppKeeper version, AppKeeper install date | Each app start |
| Usage events | Actions such as starting a backup, restoring or deleting a backup, changing the backup folder or night mode, and the dates the apps you back up were last updated | When you take the action |
| Crash and error reports | Technical details of an error, such as the stack trace | When an error occurs |
| Feedback | The star rating and the text you type in the "Rate this app" dialog | Only if you submit it |
| Install referrer | Which store page or campaign AppKeeper was installed from, provided by Google Play | Once, after installation |
| Notification token | A Firebase Cloud Messaging token that lets us send notifications to the app | When the app starts |
| Notification permission choice | Whether you allowed or denied notifications | When you answer the prompt |
Information that stays on your device
The list of your installed apps, your backups and your settings never leave your device through AppKeeper. AppKeeper only shares a backup file when you choose Share and pick where it goes.
| Permission | Why AppKeeper needs it |
|---|---|
| See all installed apps (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES) | To show the apps you can back up. The list is read on your device and is not sent to us. |
| Install apps (REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES) | To restore a backup when you tap Restore. Android asks you to confirm every install. |
| Uninstall apps (REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES) | To uninstall an app when you ask, for example before restoring an older version. Android asks you to confirm. |
| Access to the backup folder you choose | Granted through Android's folder picker. AppKeeper reads and writes only that folder. |
| Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | To show notifications. You can deny it; AppKeeper works the same. |
| Internet | To send the analytics, crash reports and feedback described above. |
Settings such as your backup folder, sort order and night mode are stored only in the app's private storage.
How we use it
We use the information only to run and improve AppKeeper:
- Understand which features are used and on which Android versions, to decide what to fix and build next
- Find and fix crashes and errors
- Read your feedback and respond to it in future versions
- Measure which store pages and campaigns bring new users
- Send notifications about AppKeeper, such as important updates
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers. AppKeeper contains no ads.
Services that process your information
AppKeeper uses three services. Data is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.
| Service | Provider | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Zofeh analytics | Zofeh (api.zofeh.com) | Instance ID, device and app information, usage events, crash reports, feedback, install referrer, notification token |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Data needed to issue the notification token and deliver notifications | |
| Google Play Install Referrer | Read on your device to find the install source; passed on only to Zofeh |
Google processes data under its own privacy policy, linked above.
Retention and your choices
We keep analytics, crash reports and feedback for 24 months, then delete them. Notification tokens are deleted when they stop working.
- Notifications: turn them off at any time in Android settings, under Apps, AppKeeper, Notifications.
- Feedback: sent only if you submit the rating dialog.
- Your backups: stay in the folder you chose. Delete them in AppKeeper or with any file manager.
- Stop all collection: uninstall AppKeeper. This also removes its settings and the app instance ID from your device.
- Access or deletion: contact us (below) with your request. Because we do not collect your name or email, we may ask for the app instance ID or the approximate time you used the app to find your data. Depending on where you live, for example in the EU, UK or California, you may have further rights, including to object to processing or to complain to a data protection authority.
Children, security and changes
Children. AppKeeper is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security. Information is sent over HTTPS and stored with access limited to the people who maintain AppKeeper. No method of transfer or storage is completely secure.
Changes. If this policy changes, we will update it here with a new effective date. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app or in the release notes.
